‘Spawn’ Reboot Production Start Date Reportedly Pushed Back

A new report claims that the production start date for Todd McFarlane’s Spawn reboot has, once again, been pushed back.

Todd MacFarlane has been talking about a Spawn reboot for years and when the film officially landed at Blumhouse Productions, the project seemed more real than ever. What’s even more exciting is that McFarlane has officially cast Jamie Foxx to star as the titular comic book icon. Sadly, it seems that production on the film may not start until next summer.

According to a Tweet from Production Weekly, Todd Macfarlane’s Spawn reboot won’t begin production until June 2019 in Toronto, Canada. The last year or two have made the film truly feel like it was on its way but this new delay is part of a series of delays that have kept the iconic vigilante from the big screen ever since the infamous 1997 Spawn film starring Michael Jai White in the lead role.

Even with the delay, McFarlane fans know that his passion and drive for the project will lead to the film coming to the big screen someday, so don’t lose hope just yet. In the meantime, if you’re looking for an iconic Todd McFarlane character on the big screen, then look no further than Venom, which is in theaters now. The film has gotten mixed reviews but it seems that most audience members were at least impressed by the look and design of Venom, even if some didn’t feel like it captured his tone quite well enough.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Spawn as soon as more information becomes available. What would you like to see translated from the comics into this new movie? Are you excited about MacFarlane’s new approach to the character? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
