Rumors regarding the Sinister Six, a supervillain team consisting of classic Spider-Man foes, making an appearance in future films have circulated across the internet for some time. However, speculation on whether or not some incarnation of the Sinister Six will take on Tom Holland’s Spider-Man remains just that at this time. When asked if the Sinister Six was being considered for the future, Far From Home director Jon Watts wouldn’t only state that he prefers to focus on one film at a time and noted the abundance of great villains to choose from for the next Spider-Man film:
“I always just try to focus on one movie at a time. But for me, it’s always about trying to surprise people and show people things that they haven’t seen before. And Spider-Man has such a rich Rogues Gallery. I mean, I figured out a way to get Hydro-Man, Molten Man, Cyclone and even Sandman kind of into this movie. You can always go somewhere crazy.”
As for the reports indicating a cameo appearance by Anthony Mackie’s newly appointed Captain America was once discussed for Spider-Man: Far From Home, Jon Watts stated that this was simply a rumor and suggested it was never seriously considered:
“Yeah [that was] just a rumor. I don’t think that was ever on the table. It was never on the whiteboard.”
