‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ Stars Just As Confused By That ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Plot Hole

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the cast of Spider-Man: Far From Home expressed their own confusion regarding a potential plot hole created by Avengers: Endgame.

Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame concluded with our heroes succeeding in their mission to travel back in time to retrieve the Infinity Stones and use them to reverse Thanos’ decimation. However, their victory occurred five years after Thanos initially eradicated half of the population in the universe at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, leaving some fans to wonder why Peter Parker and his classmates are still in high school in Spider-Man: Far From Home. When asked about this very question by host Jimmy Kimmel, the cast of Spider-Man: Far From Home expressed their own confusion, with Jacob Batalon noting it may be one of the biggest plot holes ever:

Tom Holland: Why … why are we still in high school? [laughs]
Jacob Batalon: I mean, it might be one of the biggest plot holes of all time.
Cobie Smulders: I don’t want to pull that thread. I don’t know.

Of course, some have already predicted Spider-Man: Far From Home will simply address the issue by explaining Peter Parker’s core group of classmates were all victims of the decimation and therefore returned at the same time in Avengers: Endgame.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man must step up to take on new threats in a world that has changed forever.

Directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland, Jake Gyllenhaal, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, Numan Acar, J.B. Smoove, Oli Hill, Remy Hii, Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton, Jon Favreau, Cobie Smulders, and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

Spider-Man: Far From Home will be released in theaters on July 2, 2019.
