‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Video Explores Michael Keaton’s Vulture

A new featurette for Marvel and Sony's 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' further explores the Vulture portrayed by Michael Keaton.

The first reviews for Spider-Man: Homecoming are in – and the buzz has been incredibly positive (you can read Nate Brail’s glowing review here). Based off of the early reactions, one of the most praised aspects of the new film is that of the film’s primary antagonist: The Vulture, portrayed by Academy Award-nominee Michael Keaton.

Jumping from one iconic flying comic book character into another, Keaton serves as Peter Parker’s latest obstacle to overcome. In the film, Adrian Toomes is a man who is scavenging for weapons that were left behind from the Battle of New York seen in The Avengers.

Sony Pictures has released a brand new featurette that further explores how The Vulture is a viable threat to the webhead. On playing this villain, Keaton discusses his approach to the character:

“I found a really interesting approach to what you all want to call a villain. The Vulture does corrupt things in order to fight what he sees as corruption. He thinks to himself, ‘They all have their’s, where’s mine?’ He and his men basically work with their hands. He doesn’t have any inherent superpowers. He starts to utilize technology to up his game.”

Ever since his Academy Award-nominated turn in Birdman, Keaton has made an amazing comeback into the limelight. He will always be known for playing Batman in the two Tim Burton films, but it is nice to see him sink his teeth into another role in a comic book movie.

Are you excited to see how The Vulture brings chaos into Peter’s life? Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters on July 7, 2017.
