‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Kissing Scenes Between Peter & Liz Were Cut

Spider-Man: Homecoming depicted Peter Parker’s struggle to balance life as high school student with his superhero ambitions. Part of that struggle involved earning the affection of classmate Liz, whom Peter considered kissing after saving her and the rest of academic decathlon team as Spider-Man. While the two characters were never able to share a kiss, actress Laura Harrier revealed to ComicBook.com that a variety of kissing scenes were shot for the film before being left on the cutting room floor.

Harrier shared her thoughts on what Liz might have been thinking while Spider-Man was considering kissing her after the harrowing save:

“I didn’t think we were going to kiss in [that scene] because I would’ve fallen to my death. If that happened, I don’t think that what was going through Liz’s mind. It was like, ‘Oh, my God, I’m alive.’”

Harrier explained that a number of Spider-Man kissing scenes were filmed:

“We did a lot of different kissing scenes and none of them are in the movie now. I don’t know. It’s an interesting choice. We didn’t know what they were going to choose, because we had all these different options of a Spider-Man kiss and then there’s none.”

Are you disappointed to hear that the kissing scenes were cut from the film or was it the correct choice to omit them from the final version of the film? Share your thoughts below!

Directed by Jon Watts, the film stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Michael Chernus, Kenneth Choi, Hannibal Buress, Martin Starr, Michael Barbieri, Angourie Rice, Abraham Attah, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is now playing in theaters!
