‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’: Tom Holland Hasn’t Seen ‘Empire Strikes Back’

Spider-Man: Homecoming will be the title hero’s first solo adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the wall crawler already made a positive impression when he debuted in Captain America: Civil War. One of the most memorable moments during the character’s first outing was when he formulated a plan to take down Giant-Man, referencing Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back to Iron Man in order to quickly explain his idea and referring to the classic film as a “really old movie.”  While the moment offered one of the film’s biggest laughs, actor Tom Holland recently revealed to Yahoo! that he actually has not seen what many claim to be the greatest Star Wars film of all-time.

Holland confessed that he has not seen Star Wars: Episode V.

“I haven’t seen The Empire Strikes Back, I’m not gonna lie.”

Holland did explain that he has seen the more recent Star Wars films such as The Force Awakens and Rogue One.

“I thought that was dope. I really am a fan of those, I thought they were great fun.”

Holland confessed that he has not see any of the original Star Wars films, but revealed that he has seen the prequels and shared his opinion on them.

“And I’m even more embarrassed to say that I love those movies when I was a kid. Everyone’s like, ‘What? You liked those movies?!’”

How do you feels about Tom Holland loving the prequels but not seeing the original trilogy? Personally, he’s a young but busy kid. I imagine he’ll have a plenty of time to catch up on the Star Wars franchise.

Directed by Jon Watts, the film stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Michael Chernus, Kenneth Choi, Hannibal Buress, Martin Starr, Michael Barbieri, Angourie Rice, Abraham Attah, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released in theaters on July 7, 2017.
