‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’: Vulture Will Be Peter Parker’s First Big Villain

'Spider-Man: Homecomig' producer Eric Carroll confirms that Michael Keaton's Adrian Toomes/The Vulture will be Peter Parker' first big villain.

Spider-Man arguably has the greatest rogues gallery of the Marvel superheroes and while the wall crawler has faced a number of his biggest foes in previous film adaptations, Spider-Man: Homecoming will mark the character’s first cinematic encounter with The Vulture. With the film set to depict a younger and less experienced version of Spider-Man, fans have wondered just how many classic foes the MCU version of the hero has faced in the past.

In an interview with Screen Rant, producer Eric Carroll confirmed that Adrian Toomes/The Vulture will the first major villain this version of the web slinger has faced .

“Yes. This is, aside from his adventures in Civil War, this is the biggest thing he has ever done.”

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

Directed by Jon Watts, the film stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Michael Chernus, Kenneth Choi, Hannibal Buress, Martin Starr, Michael Barbieri, Angourie Rice, Abraham Attah, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released in theaters on July 7, 2017.
