Before the landmark deal between Marvel Studios and Sony that brought Spider-Man into the MCU, the latter studio was developing a Sinister Six film with Drew Goddard attached to write and direct. While the project seemed to have been shelved since then, Amy Pascal noted that she is waiting to move forward with the villain team-up film when Goddard is ready:
“I’m just waiting for Drew to be ready to direct it. I would do anything with Drew Goddard. I’m just waiting for him to tell me he wants to.”

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will be released in theaters on December 14, 2018.
