‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Rules Social Media For Third Week In A Row

Spider-Man: Homecoming continues to be an absolute juggernaut on social media, as it created thousands of new conversations in the last week.

The Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios team-up Spider-Man: Homecoming continues to dominate the web for the third week in a row as the superhero movie serves as one of the most highly-anticipated releases of the remaining Summer season.

Variety is reporting that in the past week, Spider-Man has created over 345,000 new conversations on social media, bringing the total number of conversations up to an amazing total of over 2,675,000 conversations ahead of the film’s release. This big increase owes itself to a mix of the last big ad blitz before the movie comes out and the strong social media presence of the movie’s cast.

Coming in a distant second is Sony’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle – which recently got a new trailer just in time to be screened in front of Spider-Man – with over 83,000 new conversations. The quasi-sequel to the 1995 cult classic stirred up quite a bit of conversation following the arrival of the trailer, although it has drawn mixed reactions from fans of the original. In third is Dunkirk from Warner Brothers with 40,000 new conversations, a strong number for the war movie. In fourth is Twentieth Century Fox’s musical The Greatest Showman with 37,000 new conversations.

The remaining films listed in the sample are Avengers: Infinity War (18,000+ conversations), Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (18,000+ conversations), War for the Planet of the Apes (17,000+ conversations), Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (15,000+ conversations), Deadpool 2 (9,000+ conversations), and My Little Pony (9,000+ conversations).

Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters on July 7, 2017. The film features a cast that includes Tom Holland as Peter Parker (Spider-Man), Robert Downey Junior as Tony Stark (Iron Man), Zendaya Coleman as Michelle, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Tony Revolori as “Flash” Thompson, Laura Harrier as Liz Allan, Marisa Tomei as May Parker, Jon Favreau as Harold “Happy” Hogan, Michael Keaton as Adrian Toomes (Vulture), Bokeem Woodbine as Herman Schultz (Shocker), and Michael Chernus as Phineas Mason (Tinkerer).
