‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’: Tom Holland Recounts His Awkward Encounter…

During an interview on The Graham Norton Show, Spider-Man: Homecoming star revealed his first awkward encounter with Robert Downey Jr.

Starring alongside Marvel veterans, Tom Holland made his debut as Spider-Man during Captain America: Civil War. Now that the web-slinger has been properly introduced in the MCU, Spider-Man will make his solo film debut in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming, where he’ll be sharing the screen with Iron Man. Co-starring with Robert Downey Jr., Holland noted his first encounter with the Iron Man star during an interview on The Graham Norton Show (via Express.co).

“I got very nervous about meeting Robert Downey Jr as I have been a fan of his my entire life. When I met him I was thinking, ‘You look different in person, something isn’t quite the same.’ And then Robert walked in and I realized I had been chatting to his stunt double!”

Well, that’s certainly an awkward way to start a friendship that will last for many (presumably) years. However, both Holland and Downey Jr. have shown to have great chemistry, so one awkward encounter won’t hinder much.

Directed by Jon Watts, the film stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Tony Revolori, Kenneth Choi, Hannibal Buress, Abraham Attah, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.

A young Peter Parker (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released in theaters on July 7, 2017.
