‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’: Cast & Crew Discuss Vulture

Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming will feature Michael Keaton first role in a superhero film in over 25 years, and the crew are excited for his portrayal.

This year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming sees the cinematic debut of Vulture and the first role Michael Keaton has taken in a superhero film in over 25 years. With both factors in play, fans are excited to see Michael Keaton’s role as the menacing Vulture, especially now considering that the film takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the Disney Channel’s A Fan’s Guide To Spider-Man: Homecoming, various cast and crew members discussed Michael Keaton’s performance as the Vulture. The video itself is full of new footage and interesting behind-the-scenes tidbits, so if you have the chance, we highly recommend you watch it.

Regarding Vulture, executive producer Jeremy Latcham had the following to say:

“The Vulture’s realizing there’s this black market in trading MCU relics that he can sell this stuff on. We’re going to see that guy’s rise in this criminal underworld.”

Director Jon Watts added:

“The idea that there’s detritus from all the other movies that had settled and that’s hidden and that’s out there, the Vulture, he was just sort of an engineer who built this wing suit to try and collect that stuff and do something with it.”

And finally, the Vulture himself added to the conversation, stating that he doesn’t think the Vulture is all that bad:

“I found a really interesting approach to what you all wanna call a villain. He does corrupt things in order to fight what he sees as corruption and I think he has a pretty strong argument.”

Directed by Jon Watts, the film stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Tony Revolori, Kenneth Choi, Hannibal Buress, Abraham Attah, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.

A young Peter Parker (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released in theaters on July 7, 2017.
