After crash landing on Earth, Carol Danvers finds herself pursuing a Skrull on a train and attempts to identify the shapeshifter after it takes the form of an unknown passenger. As Carol assesses which traveler could be the disguised Skrull, she spots a sitting passenger reading out loud and lowers the script in the script they’re holding to reveal Stan Lee. Carol Danvers and Stan Lee smile to each other before the heroine continues with her search.
Interestingly, the script Stan Lee is reading is for Kevin Smith’s 1995 film Mallrats, in which the late comic book legend also made an appearance. In Mallrats, Stan Lee played himself and offered Jason Lee’s Brodie advice on love and relationships, noting how the comic book characters he created reflected his own experiences.
