Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige Recalls Final Meeting With Stan Lee

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige described his final meeting with the late Stan Lee in a tribute shared on Entertainment Weekly.

On November 12, 2018, Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee passed away at 95. Now, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has penned a moving tribute to Stan Lee in which he recounted his final conversation with the late icon.

I went to his house to see him, and he reminisced about the cameos. We were talking about what was coming up, always looking to the future.

Did he know that his time was running out? I don’t know. In hindsight, he was slightly more wistful than I’d seen him before. He talked about the past more than I had ever heard him talk about the past. So maybe on some level, he knew.

When I sat down by his chair in our last meeting, the very first thing he said was: ‘I know you want me to star in the next movie, but I have to just stick to the cameos. You’ll have to leave the starring roles to the other actors. I’m sorry.’

You can check out the full tribute over at Entertainment Weekly.

In 1961, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby launched Marvel as it is known today with The Fantastic Four and went on to create some of the most beloved heroes and villains in comic book history, including Spider-Man, X-Men, Iron Man, Black Panther, The Incredible Hulk, and The Avengers. Today, Lee’s Marvel characters are the subjects of some of the most successful and acclaimed comic books films, most of which feature cameo appearances by the legend himself.

Stan Lee was laid to rest in a private funeral. He is survived by his daughter J.C.
