‘Star Trek’: James McAvoy Offers To Play Young Picard In New Series

X-Men star James McAvoy has offered to once again play a young Patrick Stewart in the new Star Trek series about Jean-Luc Picard.

Yesterday, Sir Patrick Stewart shared the first photo of the creative team behind the upcoming Star Trek series about Captain Jean-Luc Picard. The photo was met with a lot of enthusiasm from fans who are eager to see the Star Trek: The Next Generation hero return to the small screen, but one comment on the Instagram version of the photo also caught the attention of Trekkies. X-Men star James McAvoy responded to the photo by posting a comment in which he offered to play young Picard in flashback scenes:

“Need a flashback guy???? Just saying @sirpatstew I’ve got previous experience and will work for autographs.”

Of course, few need to be reminded that James McAvoy currently portrays the young version of Patrick Stewart’s Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men films.

The new show is being developed for CBS All Access and is expected to follow Jean-Luc Picard 20 years after the events of the character’s previous adventure in Star Trek: Nemesis. The series is expected to premiere in 2019.

Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the series and future Star Trek projects!
