Today EA has revealed that Star Wars Battlefront II will offer three times the amount of content of original on launch day.
During EA post-earnings sales call today, CEO Andrew Wilson revealed that the sequel will feature “more than three times the content” that the original offered at launch, including “a brand-new story, a new single-player campaign, new modes, characters, vehicles and planets from all eras in the Star Wars universe, as well as a live service plan that will continue to add even more fun for the global community.”
This is certainly great news for gamers and Star Wars fans alike. Personally, I loved playing the first Battlefront and still play it to this day, but I definitely would have preferred not to have paid twice as much as the game cost just to get to play on some of the additional maps like the Outer Rim, Cloud City on Bespin, the Death Star and Rogue One‘s Scariff. Add to that the fact that the game did not offer a story mode and it just ended up being way too expensive, costing twice as much for what essentially felt like half a game.
I’m happy to see that EA has seemingly learned their lesson and are making amends with the sequel. I’m also really excited that the game will feature characters and material from all eras of Star Wars. Maybe we can finally get that Darth Maul vs Darth Vader showdown, even if it’s not canon.
Star Wars Battlefront II will release on November 17, 2017, but you can already pre-order the game for new Kylo Ren and Rey costumes from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, plus ability upgrades and more.
