For fans looking forward to their original stories to be told in the universe created by George Lucas, Benioff and Weiss are getting close to developing the new series of films.
According to EW, Benioff and Weiss are set to begin their work on their upcoming series of films set in the galaxy far, far away after post-production on the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones is complete. Weiss explained that they learned some important tips on secrecy from Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and Star Wars: The Last Jedi writer/director Rian Johnson, who is also set to craft his own trilogy of films separate from the Skywalker Saga:
“They’ve given us a lot of hints about how to lock things down, things we never would have thought of or didn’t know were possible.”

Meanwhile, Benioff and Weiss return to executive produce the final season alongside Carolyn Strauss, Frank Doelger and Bernadette Caulfield, with Bryan Cogman, Guymon Casady, Vince Gerardis and George R.R. Martin serving as co-executive producers. Benioff, Weiss, Cogman and Dave Hill wrote the final six episodes which have been directed by David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik, with the series finale helmed by Benioff and Weiss.
