‘Star Wars’ Not Focusing On A Live-Action TV Show

The entity of Star Wars has become an empire all its own. From the record-breaking movies to merchandising, Star Wars is everywhere…except for live-action television.

Disney Media Networks Co-Chairman and Disney-ABC Television President Ben Sherwood gave fans an update on a possible live-action TV production. He reminded fans to remain cautiously optimistic.

“Somewhere we hope in a galaxy not too far away there will be a television show that will air on one of our networks. But I wouldn’t get anybody’s hopes up too high. They have a lot of movies to make between now and then.”

While Star Wars isn’t focusing on a live-action show, Disney has had incredible success with Star Wars: Rebels, which is currently going into its third season.

Season 3 promises to build upon the beginnings of the Galactic Civil War and the origins of the Rebel Alliance. Star Wars Rebels has seen huge success for its ability to complement the Star Wars franchise and expand upon the established universe and original trilogy.

Fans won’t have to wait much longer for Star Wars to return to the big screen as well. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be released on December 16th.

Rogue One follows a group of Rebel fighters who come together in order to steal the plans for the Death Star. The film stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, and Jonathan Aris.

Star Wars Rebels returns to Disney XD for its Season 3 Premiere on Saturday, September 24th at 8:30Catch the Season 3 Premiere of Star Wars Rebels Saturday, September 24 at 8:30P.
