‘Star Wars’: Daisy Ridley Says Identity Of Rey’s Parents Was Answered In ‘The Force Awakens’

'Star Wars' star Daisy Ridley says the mystery of Rey's backstory and the identity of her parents is answered in 'The Force Awakens.

While Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is just under two weeks away from hitting theaters, the yet-to-be titled Star Wars – Episode VIII is still on the minds of many fans, including the enduring mystery regarding Rey’s parentage and backstory. While talking about her work as a narrator for the documentary The Eagle Huntress with Time Out, actress Daisy Ridley discussed the upcoming follow-up to The Force Awakens where she revealed that the answers to Rey’s backstory are already provided.

When asked if she was eager to get the secret of Rey’s backstory off her chest, Daisy Ridley revealed that she believed The Force Awakens already provided plenty of answers.

“I thought a lot was answered in The Force Awakens. Then after the screening I went for a drink with my agent and everyone, and we were chatting away and I realized that oh, in their minds it’s not answered at all!”

Despite believing that The Force Awakens provides sufficient answers, Ridley explained that she does enjoy how Rey’s backstory has become a mystery for fans.

“I think curiosity is a wonderful thing and I do find it quite funny that people keep asking about it. Just yesterday a guy asked to take a picture with me, and went ‘Is Luke your Dad’? And I was like, ‘chill out, you’ll see’!”

Ridley said that she would love to see audiences reactions when the answers are made clear, but also warned that more questions will come from the revelation.

“I’d love to see the look on people’s faces, but with answers come more questions, and there’s definitely going to be enough to keep people going for another two years!”

Thought Ridley was playing coy when it came to addressing Rey’s backstory, she was less reserved when it came to discussing her enthusiasm for Episode VIII.

“It’s going to be great.”

Of course Daisy Ridley could simply be playing with fans when she says The Force Awakens provides enough answers about Rey’s parents, but regardless, fans will likely be analyzing and discussing the film for clues until Episode VIII is finally released.

Star Wars – Episode VIII will be released in theaters on December 15, 2017.
