Expect a lot more games from EA in the future!
Back in 2013, it was announced that EA would be in charge of making Star Wars video games under a multi-year agreement. So far we’ve gotten many mobile games along with two Battlefront remakes, Jedi: Fallen Order, and Squadrons, which will arrive later this year. EA’s handling of the license has received plenty of backlash from fans with paid DLCs, loot crates, and canceled projects.
However, EA is coming off of Jedi: Fallen Order and the updated work on Battlefront II, which have both earned the approval of many fans and financial success. Squadrons has also earned a positive reaction so far with the release of the first trailer and gameplay last week and it’s been reported that Respawn Entertainment is hard at work with a Jedi: Fallen Order sequel. These appear to be the tip of the iceberg for what EA has planned for the Star Wars game license based on new comments from CEO Andrew Wilson during a recent “fireside chat” webinar:
“We’ve had success in first-person shooters, in RPGs, in action adventure, in MMORPGs, in mobile, and I believe we’re going to have success with Squadrons as well. We’re going to double down on that partnership. Disney continues to be very, very committed to the IP and to the canon.”
