New Source Suggests That ‘Star Wars Episode IX’ Starts Filming This Year

A new report suggests that Colin Trevorrow's Star Wars Episode IX is on its way toward beginning production as early as this July.

A new report is suggesting that Lucasfilm is wasting absolutely no time getting Star Wars Episode IX into production, and that there’s a chance that filming may begin as early as this year.

A new post from My Entertainment World lists a July 2017 start date for the production of Star Wars Episode IX at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England. If the report proves to be accurate, then the movie would begin its production cycle nearly two years – or possibly more – ahead of its release date in 2019. While December 2019 is the safe bet for the Saga movies so far (with The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi following similar release patterns, along with Anthology movie Rogue One), the May window is also a potential option now that Han Solo is targeting one such release. On the subject of Han Solo, it may just be possible that Episode IX will begin pre-production once Han Solo‘s on-set filming wraps up.

Star Wars Episode IX is expected to be released in 2019. Cast members that are already confirmed to return include Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn (FN-2187), Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, and Anthony Daniels as C-3PO.
