The Japanese title for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is going to be a bit different in Japan as it translates to Star Wars: Dawn of Skywalker which might hint at a major fan theory. Here’s a look at the Japanese promotional art:
This title could confirm a hugely speculated fan theory that the new title for Jedi and even force users as a whole is Skywalker. The speculation comes from the title The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker and that it could mean after the “Jedi” title is abandoned, the term “Skywalker” is used in its place. This could allow for Rey to adopt the name or title of “Skywalker.” It would also satisfy The Last Jedi‘s goal of expanding on the Star Wars mythos beyond just the Skywalker family but at the same time allowing their legacy to continue.
The Rise of Skywalker will follow up The Last Jedi and wrap-up the entire nine movie Skywalker saga. Mark Hamill has stated his enthusiasm for the series to end and also confirmed that Luke will be back, seemingly in the form of a Force Ghost. Maybe this will see to “Skywalker” becoming a title for future Jedi and even force users as a whole.
What do you think of this new title? Could Star Wars: Dawn of Skywalker mean that “Skywalker” will be the new term for force user? Let us know what your thoughts are down in the comments!
