‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’: Take A Look At Finn’s New Blaster

Prior to the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, John Boyega has revealed a new video that showcases Finn's new blaster.

One of the most exciting things about the Star Wars sequel trilogy is that we’ve been seeing expansions and new versions of our favorite weapons, droids, and ships from the original trilogy. While adhering to the past, the sequel trilogy has proven to have its own flavor and visual style. The most famous and culturally iconic Star Wars weapon is the lightsaber, but we can’t ignore the ease and devastating nature of the blasters.

John Boyega’s Finn has had the pleasure of wielding both a lightsaber and blaster, but it seems he’d much rather prefer the latter over the former. Over on Instagram, Boyega revealed his character’s blaster for the first time. In the video, he shows off the blaster by firing it and states that Rian Johnson gave it to him as a gift. You can take a look at the video below.

The blaster has a rugged look to it, with blue lighting that lights up when fired. This is an interesting tidbit, as the designers for The Force Awakens made sure the lightsabers had light so their shadows and reflections could be seen on their respective holders. This immersive look is great and shows that the designers are paying extra attention to the most rudimentary of decisions.

Directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: The Last Jedi stars Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Carrie Fisher, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, and newcomers to the franchise Benicio del Toro and Laura Dern.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits cinemas on December 15, 2017.
