Lucasfilm and IDW Publishing will be releasing a Star Wars: The Force Awakens young reader graphic novel this summer ahead of Star Wars Adventures.
The Force Awakens has already received a novelization by Alan Dean Foster which included scenes and dialogue that did not appear in the film as well as an adaptation by author Chuck Wendig (Star Wars: Aftermath). The newest adaptation, however, is the latest addition to Disney’s Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
The new graphic novel is an 80-page adaptation of the film written by Alessandro Ferrari which Ferrari has geared towards younger readers of the current Marvel Star Wars comics. The artwork has been provided by a group of Disney artists who intended to bridge the gap between Star Wars and traditional Disney animation.

Thirty years after the defeat of the Galactic Empire, the galaxy faces a new threat from the evil Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and the First Order. When a defector named Finn (John Boyega) crash-lands on a desert planet, he meets Rey (Daisy Ridley), a tough scavenger whose droid contains a top-secret map. Together, the young duo joins forces with Han Solo (Harrison Ford) to make sure the Resistance receives the intelligence concerning the whereabouts of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), the last of the Jedi Knights.
The graphic novel adaptation of Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be available sometime this August.
