A new photo surfaced online recently showing Star Wars creator George Lucas posing with Baby Yoda from The Mandalorian. Fans have been theorizing the backstory for Baby Yoda on The Mandalorian ever since his debut. Many were left wondering whether George Lucas had any input on Baby Yoda’s origins before the start of The Mandalorian. But Jon Favreau recently posted a photo of George Lucas posing with The Mandalorian‘s Baby Yoda.

Jon Favreau posted the photo of George Lucas and Baby Yoda to his Instagram page from The Mandalorian set. There’s presumably a practical set from The Mandalorian in the background of the shot but it isn’t entirely clear what it is. Many fans commenting on the photo expressed how much they loved seeing George Lucas embracing the new era of Star Wars with The Mandalorian and Baby Yoda. Here is the official synopsis for Disney Plus’ The Mandalorian:

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog, and Nick Nolte. The Disney Plus series was written by Jon Favreau, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist is also on board as a co-executive producer.

Dave Filoni will direct the first episode of Star Wars series and additional episodes will be helmed by Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi, Jurassic World star Bryce Dallas Howard, Dope director Rick Famuyiwa, and Jessica Jones director Deborah Chow.

The Mandalorian is now available exclusively on Disney Plus.
