‘Star Wars’: Gina Carano Joins Pedro Pascal In ‘The Mandalorian’

TheWrap reports Gina Carano (Deadpool) has joined the cast of Lucasfilm’s live-action Star Wars series, The Mandalorian.

Character details remain under wraps. She joins the series which stars Pedro Pascal who was confirmed in the lead role earlier this week after being previously rumored for the show last month.

Official plot details on the first-ever live-action Star Wars series have yet to be revealed, however, The Mandalorian is set six years after Return of the Jedi and will explore the Star Wars timeline between the original and sequel trilogies. It is rumored to chronicle the restoration of Mandalore after the fall of the Empire following the Battle of Jakku.

Jon Favreau has written the series and also serves as executive producer along with Star Wars Rebels creator Dave Filoni, Colin Wilson, and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. Karen Gilchrist will co-executive produce. In addition to executive producing, Filoni is directing the first episode with additional episodes helmed by Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok).

Here’s the official synopsis for The Mandalorian:

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

The Mandalorian will debut exclusively on Disney+, which is expected to launch by the end of 2019. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the future of the Star Wars franchise as we learn it.
