2019 is shaping up to be a huge year for Star Wars, not only will the franchise conclude the Skywalker Saga in December with Star Wars: Episode IX, but Lucasfilm will debut the first-ever live-action Star Wars television series exclusively on Disney’s streaming service, Disney+ with The Mandalorian. In addition to The Mandalorian, Star Wars: The Clone Wars will also be debuting on the streaming service with its final 12 episodes from executive producer Dave Filoni. The final season will feature Matt Lanter, James Arnold Taylor, and Ashley Eckstein reprising their respective roles as Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ahsoka Tano.
Plot details for The Mandalorian have not yet been revealed however the series will take place several years after Return of the Jedi and will explore the Star Wars timeline between the original and sequel trilogies as it follows a lone gunslinger on the outer reaches of the galaxy.
The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog, and Nick Nolte. The series was written by Jon Favreau, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist is also on board as a co-executive producer.
Production on the series is currently underway. Filoni serves as director on the first episode of the series with additional episodes helmed by Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi, Jurassic World star Bryce Dallas Howard, Dope director Rick Famuyiwa, and Jessica Jones director Deborah Chow.

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
The Mandalorian and Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be available exclusively on Disney+ in 2019. Lucasfilm’s second live-action Star Wars series, which features Diego Luna reprising his Rogue One: A Star Wars Story role as Cassian Andor reportedly begins filming in the fall of 2019 as well.
