No, Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi ‘Star Wars‘ Series Hasn’t Been Canceled

Despite a rumor that spread like wildfire, Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars series for Disney+ has not been canceled.

The rumor regarding Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Star Wars series started on a Twitter account that labels itself as a parody account called DiscussingFilm (not the official one). Their version of parody mostly amounts to posting fake news stories seemingly just to play a joke on people. One of their latest “stories” was that Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Star Wars series for Disney+ had been canceled.

Unfortunately, a few people saw the Ewan McGregor Obi-Wan Kenobi story and thought it was legitimate, including sites like That Hashtag Show and We Got This Covered, causing the story to spread across the internet.  Fortunately for us, the story has turned out to be completely false. According to The Wrap, representatives for Ewan McGregor called the story “totally inaccurate” so it seems we will be seeing him take on the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi at least one more time.

What do you all think of this Obi-Wan Kenobi story? Did you fall for it when you first saw it? Are you looking forward to seeing Ewan McGregor’s return to the Star Wars series? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Disney’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series featuring Ewan McGregor will be the Mouse House’s third live-action Star Wars series for Disney Plus. It will be directed by Deborah Chow and written by Hossein Amini. The series itself is said to take place sometime in between the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: A New Hope. As always, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy will be producing.

Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the Star Wars franchise and Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
