During Comic Con de Chile, Lucasfilm's Pablo Hidalgo revealed that Star Wars: The Last Jedi will feature a reunion of sorts.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi won’t hit theaters for a few more months, but details regarding the film have been slowly trickling out ever since the teaser trailer premiered last month at the Star Wars Celebration. With the teaser out, Vanity Fair’s latest edition features a variety of images and interviews with the cast and crew. The most notable image was of Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher hugging which resulted in many tears and “awws”.
With the emotional image joining our cultural zeitgeist, many wondered if both stars would share the screen and possibly have a reunion in the upcoming film. If you don’t remember, both stars didn’t share a scene in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. According to Pablo Hidalgo, a veteran Star Wars storyteller, and high-ranking Lucas Film executive, both Hamill and Fisher will share a scene in the upcoming film.
This news comes from Comic Con de Chile, where PrensaImperial was there to get the information. It’s somewhat surprising that a Lucasfilm employee, let alone someone with the stature of Hidalgo, would go ahead and reveal the reunion. Maybe both stars sharing the screen won’t be a big deal and will be featured in upcoming trailers? Only time well tell what the future of Star Wars has in store for us.
UPDATE: Hidalgo took to Twitter to clarify that the reunion he spoke of between Hamill and Fisher was in regards to the Vanity Fair photo shoot and nothing more. You can read the tweets below.
Directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: The Last Jedi stars Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Carrie Fisher, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, and newcomers to the franchise Benicio del Toro and Laura Dern.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits cinemas on December 15, 2017.
