‘Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker’ BTS Photo Reveals Return Of The Knights Of Ren

Vanity Fair has unveiled a new Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker behind-the-scenes photo featuring the Knights of Ren.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens briefly introduced the Knights of Ren in Rey’s vision, where the armored warriors were seen standing over bodies and were seemingly led by the villainous Kylo Ren. Their presence prompted fans to speculate on the current whereabouts of the group and their history with the former Ben Solo, but Star Wars: The Last Jedi made no mention of the Knights of Ren outside of a possible reference when Luke Skywalker informs Rey that Kylo Ren left with a group of his former students after destroying the new Jedi Temple and murdering the remaining pupils. However, the Knights of Ren are set to return in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and now a new behind-the-scenes photo offers fans a glimpse at the mysterious group on a filming location in Jordan.

Full plot details for Episode IX are currently under wraps, though the film is set to conclude the Skywalker saga before theatrically released Star Wars films takes a three-year hiatus.

Directed by J. J. Abrams, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant, Keri Russell, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Ian McDiarmid, and Billy Dee Williams. Carrie Fisher will appear as General Leia Organa through the use of previously unreleased footage shot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be released in theaters on December 19, 2019.
