‘Star Wars’: Joe Russo Praises Jon Favreau’s Visual Approach For ‘The Mandalorian’

Recently, Anthony and Joe Russo visited the set of the upcoming new Disney+ Star Wars series The Mandalorian. While there, they reunited with fellow Marvel directors Jon Favreau and Taika Waititi, the former serving as the Executive Producer and Writer of the series and the latter directing an episode of the series.

During a Q&A following a special screening of Avengers: Infinity War, Joe Russo shared his thoughts on his recent set visit on The Mandalorian. He went on to sing the praises of Favreau’s visual approach to the series:

“It’s amazing. We went down there to say hi to Jon. Taika was directing an episode, so we went to hang out with them. Jon is always at the forefront of cutting edge tech, and he is shooting this in a way that no one has ever shot anything ever before. It’s pretty astounding.”

The Mandalorian will be the first official live-action Star Wars series. Another series in development will be a prequel series centered on Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Mandalorian:

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

The Mandalorian does not have an official release date, however, the series is expected to debut with Disney’s streaming service Disney+ and is expected to launch by the end of 2019, Production on the Cassian Andor series will likely not begin until sometime next year after Luna has finished his work on the second season of Narcos: Mexico.
