‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ Tops ‘Black Panther’ Pre-Sale Ticket Record

The upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story spin-off has surpassed Marvel Studios' Black Panther in First Day Presales on Fandango.

Moviegoers are already showing their excitement for the upcoming Han Solo standalone film. At 12:01 AM last night, tickets for Solo: A Star Wars Story went on sale on Fandango and have already doubled those of Marvel Studios’ Black Panther.

The first 24 hours of Solo’s presales represent only the second best of film presales in 2018, only bested by another Marvel Studios film, Avengers: Infinity War, which went on sale on Fandango on March 16, 2018.

Based on a Fandango survey of more than 1,000 moviegoers, viewers expressed a variety of views and hopes on both the Star Wars franchise and what they hope to see in the upcoming spin-off film. 85 percent said that Han Solo is one of their favorite Star Wars characters, 76 percent are anticipating Alden Ehrenreich’s performance in the role started by Harrison Ford, and 73 percent, in particular, are excited to see Donald Glover in the role of a young Lando Calrissian

In addition, Fandango noted that starting today, moviegoers can purchase Solo tickets on the Google Assistant, thus allowing them to buy tickets with only their voice on any compatible device, including smart speakers such as Google Home and Android phones.

Directed by Ron Howard and with a screenplay from Jonathan and Lawrence Kasdan, Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Paul Bettany, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Joonas Suotamo.

Solo: A Star Wars Story blasts into theaters on May 25, 2018. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the Star Wars universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
