‘Star Wars’ Reference Sparks Intriguing ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Question

Spider-Man: Homecoming accidentally introduced a new hole in the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to a quick Star Wars reference.

Star Wars references are certainly nothing new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Each MCU film has at least one brief reference to the iconic sci-fi franchise and 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming was no exception. During Spider-Man: Homecoming, there’s a moment involving the smashing of a LEGO Death Star seen on screen. The smashing of the LEGO set itself doesn’t introduce the big question, but how Spider-Man (Tom Holland) will interact with a character in this year’s Spider-Man: Far From Home is where things get a little questionable.

Samuel L. Jackson will be reprising his role as Nick Fury in Spider-Man: Far From Home and he also played Mace Windu in the Star Wars prequel series. A new fan theory on Reddit took notice of the odd inclusion of both Star Wars and Mace Windu actor Samuel L. Jackson in the Spider-Man franchise. Check out the intriguing fan theory in the post below.

At the end of the day, it’s not a universe-breaking hole but it’s certainly a fun knot in the timeline to point out. Samuel L. Jackson is known as one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood because of his inclusion in many huge blockbuster franchises, aside from just the MCU and Star Wars films. In 2018, Jackson also voiced the character Frozone in another one of the year’s highest grossing superhero films, Incredibles 2. He was also recently seen as one of the central characters in the Warner Bros. film Kong: Skull Island.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding the Spider-Man and Star Wars franchises as soon as more information becomes available. What are your thoughts on the inclusion of both Nick Fury and Star Wars in the MCU? Do you think it will ever be addressed in any of the films? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

Peter Parker returns in Spider-Man: Far From Home, the next chapter of the Spider-Man: Homecoming series! Our friendly neighborhood Super Hero decides to join his best friends Ned, MJ, and the rest of the gang on a European vacation. However, Peter’s plan to leave super heroics behind for a few weeks are quickly scrapped when he begrudgingly agrees to help Nick Fury uncover the mystery of several elemental creature attacks, creating havoc across the continent!

Directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland, Jake Gyllenhaal, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, Numan Acar, J.B. Smoove, Oli Hill, Remy Hii, Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton, Jon Favreau, Cobie Smulders, and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

Spider-Man: Far From Home will be released in theaters on July 5, 2019.
