‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Just Won A Grammy Award

John Williams's score for 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens has won a Grammy Award for Best Score for Visual Media during a non-televised segment.

John Williams’ score for Star Wars: The Force Awakens won the Grammy award for Best Score for Visual Media.

The score didn’t win the Academy Award for Best Score, with that award going to Ennio Morricone’s highly-acclaimed The Hateful Eight. However, we don’t think John Williams is worried as he has already won five Academy Awards and has taken home over 20 Grammy Awards.

This is John Williams’ fifth Grammy Award for his work on a Star Wars film. It might not be his last award for the franchise as he’ll be scoring the upcoming entry in the Skywalker saga, The Last Jedi. Williams said last year that he doesn’t want anyone else composing music for Daisy Ridley’s character Rey. We’re not sure who’ll be scoring the upcoming Han Solo movie, but seeing that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was scored by someone other than Williams, Micheal Giacchino, we can assume that he’ll stick to the numbered entries.

Other film-related winners at the non-televised segment included Ron Howard’s The Beatles: Eight Days A Week – The Touring Years winning Best Music Film and Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop The Feeling!” from the Trolls soundtrack winning Best Song Written for Visual Media.

The Grammy’s air tonight, February 12th, at 8 p.m EST on CBS.
