Pedro Pascal was previously revealed to have landed the titular role, along with Gina Carano who was also cast in the series. Lucasfilm has now announced Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Emily Swallow (Supernatural), Carl Weathers (Predator), Omid Abtahi (American Gods), Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man), and Nick Nolte (Affliction) will also be joining the series. Weathers himself was long-rumored to have a role in the series, while previous comments from Herzog gave away the actor’s involvement.
Plot details for The Mandalorian have not yet been revealed however the series is confirmed to take place six years after Return of the Jedi and will explore the Star Wars timeline between the original and sequel trilogies. The series will follow Pascal in the title role as a lone gunslinger on the outer reaches of the galaxy.
The Mandalorian has been written by Jon Favreau, who serves as an executive producer alongside Star Wars Rebels creator Dave Filoni, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist is co-executive producing.
Production on the series is currently underway. Filoni serves as director on the first episode of the series with additional episodes will be helmed by Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi, Jurassic World star Bryce Dallas Howard, Dope director Rick Famuyiwa, and Jessica Jones director Deborah Chow.

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
The Mandalorian does not have an official release date, however, the series is expected to debut with Disney’s streaming service, Disney+, which is expected to launch by the end of 2019.
