As the coronavirus continues to impact the television and film industry, The CW has decided to make changes to its scheduling, with Stargirl being the first major shift. With the coronavirus impacting the filming of many of its series, these changes in the scheduling have become necessary.

According to Deadline, the highly-anticipated DC series Stargirl, which comes from Geoff Johns, was originally set to premiere on The CW on May 12 at 9 p.m. Now, The CW’s Stargirl has been pushed by a week to May 19 at 8p.m, taking over The Flash’s slot. The Flash will be wrapping up the episodes it currently has and will resume filming whenever the coronavirus tempers.

The film and television industry has been stalled due to the coronavirus, as many projects have halted due to it. Some of The CW’s most iconic series, such as Supernatural, have had filming delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak. However, The CW has decided that with numerous DC fans at home, they’ll be re-airing the Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover series from the Arrowverse.

A delay for the much-anticipated Stargirl is definitely not the news fans want to hear during this trying time. However, with the Stargirl delay being just a week, it certainly isn’t the biggest one fans have have had to deal with.

Here is the official synopsis for Stargirl:

High school sophomore Courtney Whitmore who inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new DC Universe series reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in a fun, exciting and unpredictable series premiering in 2019, produced by Warner Bros. Television, Mad Ghost Productions and Berlanti Productions.

Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitemore, Joel McHale as Starman, Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan, and Meg DeLacy as Cindy Burman. The series also stars Amy Smart, Trae Romano, Cameron Gellman, Yvette Monreal, Anjelika Washington, Meg DeLacy, Neil Jackson, Jake Austin Walker, Christopher James Baker, and Hunter Sansone. Geoff Johns will write and executive produce the 13-episode first season of Stargirl while Sarah Schechter and Arrowverse boss Greg Berlanti will also serve as executive producers on the series.

Stargirl is scheduled to premiere on The CW on May 19.
