Stellan Skarsgard’s Erik Selvig became a fan-favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe character when he first appeared in 2011’s Thor. The character returned in 2012’s The Avengers, 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, and 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Fans hoping to see Stellan Skarsgard return in Avengers: Endgame are going to be out of luck, though it doesn’t mean he won’t show up again at some point.
Stellan Skarsgard recently spoke with Metro about the upcoming MCU movie Avengers: Endgame and according to him, he hasn’t received a call yet to return in the film. This is what Stellan Skarsgard had to say about being omitted from Endgame, as well as how many MCU films he’s contracted for.
“No I’m not. I’ve done four [Marvel films] and they have me contracted for five and they haven’t called me yet.”
Stellan Skarsgard then went on to joke about his scientist role in the epic MCU films.
“They usually call me when they need some weird plot to be explained in a quasi-scientific way.”
Avengers: Endgame brings closure to the story that began in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War. Not only will the film bring closure to that story, but it will also close this chapter of the MCU that has been dubbed as The Infinity Saga. The MCU adventures will continue later this year though when Spider-Man: Far From Home hits the big screen. When Stellan Skarsgard’s Erik Selvig will next appear in the MCU is still unknown.
