Deadline reports the first official trailer for the remake of Stephen King’s IT from director Andy Muschietti and New Line Cinema debuted broke the record for the most watched trailer within a 24 hour after it debuted on Wednesday.
The new trailer was viewed 197 million times, smashing the record of 139 million set by The Fate of the Furious trailer last December. More than 81 million views and over 1.8 million shares were from Facebook in the United States alone. IT trended globally on Twitter with trends for Pennywise, IT, IT Movie and the red balloon emoji. The trailer rose to the No.1 spot on YouTube’s trending videos and remained there for the day of its release.
