Stranger Things star Charlie Heaton is ready for his role as Sam Guthrie a.k.a. Cannonball in Josh Boone’s New Mutants.

Heaton is set to star alongside Anya Taylor-Joy (The WitchSplit), Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), and 13 Reasons Why actor Henry Zaga, and Rosario Dawson in the X-Men spinoff. Plot details on the project have remain under wraps, however, the angst-driven adventures of the teen mutants is set to take the X-Men franchise into the horror genre as it draws influence from New Mutants No. 18.

While Heaton recently wrapped on the second season of the Netflix smash hit series Stranger Things, he seems to have quickly completed his training for his upcoming role as celebrity personal trainer Bevan Viljoen shared an image of Heaton along with his agent as he described his time working with the young star as an absolute pleasure in the caption.

You can check out Viljoen’s post below.

So what do you think? Are you excited to see Heaton join the X-Men franchise? Let us know in the comments below.

Production on the film is set to next month. Boone has co-written the script with his writing partner Knate Gwaltney. Simon Kinberg and Karen Rosenfelt will produce.
