If you've obsessed over the massively popular Netflix series, Stranger Things, you're sure to have some theories.
Gaten theorizes that Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) actually has powers similar to Eleven (Millie Brown), and that’s why he was selected by the Demogorgon. He goes on to explain that with Will’s powers, he’s able to open up a portal in his house from “The Upside Down” in order to communicate with his mother, Joyce Byers (Winona Rider). He also states that Will isn’t fully in control of his power, like Eleven appears to be. He states that others have theorized that the Demogorgon was attracted to Will, perhaps because of an off-screen bike accident that would cause him to bleed. However, Gaten believes the Demogorgon was attracted to his power. He then says that Will might even be more powerful than Eleven. But perhaps the most interesting element to his speculation is his prophecy that sees Will and Eleven engaging in a power struggle, “like Anakin and Obi Wan”.
It’s possible the Demogorgon even thought that Will was Eleven, kidnapping him by accident. This still doesn’t fully explain all of the questions the show provides, like how Will was able to control the electricity and the telephone in his home. I for one would love to see Will struggling with his powers in season 2, perhaps even opening more and more portals to “The Upside Down”, where I’m absolutely positive more monsters are hiding. But most of all, I’m just excited to see more episodes of this nostalgic, 80’s sci-fi program.
