Despite only appearing in 3 episodes of the first season, Barb has become instantly beloved by fans of the popular series. So much so, that even after she reaches her demise within the Upside Down, many fans have held onto hope that she may return for the much-anticipated second season that’s currently in production.
Unfortunately for Barb fans, she is still not coming back. In fact, Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven in the series confirmed that she is still deceased:
No, she’s not alive!
Barb’s unfortunate death will still leave an impact on the series second season. Matt Duffer, co-showrunner alongside his brother told IGN last October:
Barb will not be forgotten. We’ll make sure there’s some justice for Barb. People get very frustrated, understandably, that the town doesn’t seem to be really dealing with Barb. That stuff is all happening. We’re just not spending any screen time on it.
For those wanting to see Shannon Purser in an upcoming series, she will next appear on the upcoming CW series, Riverdale – based on the Archie Comics characters. The pilot for the series is set to premiere on Thursday January 26th.
Starring Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Cara Buono, Matthew Modine, Noah Schnapp and Joe Keery, all episodes of the first season of Stranger Things are available to stream on Netflix. Season 2 will add Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery to the main cast, and will premiere sometime this year.
