‘Stranger Things’ Season 2 Monster Will Be Seen More Than The Demogorgon

Stranger Things Season 2 is going to up the visual effects ante by giving audiences a better look at the new monster, which will get more screen time.

Stranger Things Season 2 will be upping its VFX game this time around by having its monster show up much more frequently than its predecessor – the Demogorgon, pictured above – did in Season 1.

In a short chat with TVLine, series co-creator Ross Duffer noted that this season’s monster is going to be on-screen a lot more:

“Last season, a lot of the horror and a lot of what was happening with Will was off screen in the Upside-Down… That’s not the case [in Season 2]. The horror is more up-close and personal.”

Having the Demogorgon only appear sparingly was a smart move from a narrative standpoint and a financial one – the creature’s presence in a scene could be felt even when we couldn’t see it, and the visuals for the monster were pretty top-notch aside from a few scenes in the season finale (where they probably had to cut a few corners on budget). So it ought to be very interesting to see what a more up-close-and-personal monster will look like with this next batch of episodes, and if Netflix is smart, then they’ll have boosted the budget on the digital effects for the new monster this time around to make sure that there aren’t any visual hiccups like there were in the finale.

Stranger Things Season 2 arrives in time for Halloween this year.
