TVLine has exclusively confirmed that the smash-hit Stranger Things will retain its 8 episode structure for its fourth season. This means that the fourth season of Stranger Things will have the same amount of episodes that season one and three had. Stranger Things season 2 was maligned for its filler ninth episode involving Eleven meeting a rag-tag group of edgy teenagers who had similar superpowers.
Clearly this is good news for the show and Netflix as nothing seems to have changed. As shows continue to add seasons under their belt, they often receive less funding, which means less episodes. Netflix hit the jackpot in 2016 when they released Stranger Things, a show that has quite literally dominated our popular culture over the past few years. While the show’s critical reception has dwindled since its debut back in 2016, the show has still maintained its strong (and ever growing) fanbase all around the world.
Stranger Things season 4 is currently filming and is expected to finish production this upcoming August which means we most likely won’t be seeing a season next-year. Netflix has been pretty good at allowing filmmakers and creators the opportunities to take their time with their pieces, so we have no reason to worry.
