In today’s world, where we are surrounded with male-led superhero films such as Aquaman, Black Panther, or Deadpool 2, it is certainly nice to see the women come in to showcase all their incredible talents. Now, thanks to a new study, it seems that the female-led movies actually perform better than the male-led ones at the box office, specifically during the 2014-2017 time period.
Producer Amy Pascal spoke on the recent findings, saying
“This is powerful proof that audiences want to see everyone represented on screen.”
Wonder Woman‘s impressive box office earnings are proof that the audience wants to see equality in big films like this. Next year, Marvel Studios to scheduled to be releasing their next big smash hit Captain Marvel, starring Brie Larson in the titular role. Not only does Larson lead the star-studded cast of the film, but joining her are actresses such as Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, and Annette Bening to name a few.
Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck with a script from them as well as Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Jac Schaeffer, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Annette Bening, Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.
Captain Marvel will be released in theatres on March 8, 2019, by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
