‘The Batman’: ‘Succession’ Star Jeremy Strong Passes On Role In Robert Pattinson Movie

Succession star Jeremy Strong passed on a role in Robert Pattinson’s first cinematic solo outing as Batman.

Shortly after the news that Fantastic Beasts star Colin Farrell is in talks to play The Penguin in The Batman, Variety’s Justin Kroll revealed that a member of the Roy family as seen in the hit HBO series Succession passed on the Robert Pattinsson movie. Heroic Hollywood’s own Umberto Gonzalez later confirmed that the Succession star in question is Jeremy Strong.

While Kroll indicated that Succession star Jeremy Strong was being eyed for the role of Harvey Dent, a.k.a. Two-Face, Gonzalez revealed that the actor passed on a character whose codename is “the Wasserman.”

Plot details for The Batman are being kept under wraps. Previous rumors once pointed to an earlier version of the script featuring Ben Affleck bookending the movie as his current Batman while it introduced a younger version of the iconic character, played by Robert Pattinson. But with Ben Affleck retired from the role, Robert Pattinson has officially replaced the Batman v Superman and Justice League star as Batman.

While details are slim, The Batman director Matt Reeves has confirmed that his movie is not based on Frank Miller’s Year One comic and will emphasize the hero as the world’s greatest detective more than previous films have in the past. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new Batman trilogy starring Robert Pattinson.

Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, and Paul Dano as the Riddler. Andy Serkis is in talks to play Alfred Pennyworth while Colin Farrell is being eyed for The Penguin.

The Batman arrives in theaters on June 25, 2021. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Succession star Jeremy Strong, Robert Pattinson and Batman’s future on the big screen.
