‘Suicide Squad’ Director David Ayer Praises Marvel Studios

Suicide Squad director David Ayer recently praised Marvel Studios and how it produces its movies.

While some fans are still critical of Suicide Squad director David Ayer, others still respect his talent as a filmmaker. One fan on Twitter suggested that the director take on a Namor the Submariner movie for Marvel Studios, with Ayer himself entertaining the idea with a playful emoji. But when another tweet began criticizing the studio, the director defended the way they produce movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

When a fan replied to the filmmaker criticizing the way Marvel Studios ensure its films all fit the narrative and style of the MCU instead of giving directors free reign, the Suicide Squad director pointed out that Marvel is smart by making sure additional photography is all part of thee process. The first film followed a team of supervillains who were recruited by the government for a dangerous black ops mission in exchange for reduced sentences. The ensemble cast included Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jared Leto as The Joker. However, James Gunn is expected to deliver on the fresh take on Task Force X in his upcoming movie.

Written and directed by James Gunn, the upcoming film stars David Dastmalchian, John Cena, Jai Courtney, Joaquín Cosío, Nathan Fillion, Joel Kinnaman, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Sean Gunn, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Taika Waititi, Alice Braga, Steve Agee, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Peter Capaldi, Julio Ruiz, Jennifer Holland, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Margot Robbie, and Michael Rooker.

The Suicide Squad will be released in theaters on August 6, 2021.
