‘Suicide Squad’ Concept Art Reveals Jared Leto’s Joker Escaping The Helicopter Crash

Concept art from David Ayer’s Suicide Squad was posted to Reddit showing Jared Leto’s Joker surviving the helicopter crash that supposedly killed him in a failed attempt to rescue Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.

It’s been almost three years since David Ayer’s controversial Suicide Squad was released in theaters and Jared Leto’s Joker was revealed not to be the villain that all the fans wanted or even expected.

Jared Leto prepared for the role of the Clown Prince of Crime by undergoing some controversial method acting. Jared Leto was in character on and off camera throughout the films shooting schedule and sent various fellow cast mates surprising gifts only the Joker could think of.

During a rescue attempt to liberate Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn from the Suicide Squad led by Will Smith’s Deadshot and Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flagg, the Joker’s helicopter was shot down and it seemed as if we’ve seen the end of Jared Leto.

Although we don’t see this actual scene in the finished film, we do know that Jared Leto’s Joker survives the initial crash because he breaks out Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn from Black Gate Prison at the end of the movie.

Plot details for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad remain under wraps. A previous draft of the script was once rumored to center on the supervillain team’s mission to find a terrifying new Weapon of Mass Destruction that happened to be Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam.

Warrior director Gavin O’Connor was previously set to write and direct Suicide Squad 2 with Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, and Will Smith having been confirmed to return for the sequel. James Gunn, however, will have a whole new take on the team-up flick, with a new squad that will only bring back certain members of the original cast such as Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. Joel Kinnaman is reportedly out as far as returning as Rick Flagg.

James Gunn will reportedly shoot The Suicide Squad before he moves back to Marvel Studios in order to complete the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy with the third installment.

Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad and the future of DC Films as we learn it.
