‘Suicide Squad’ Director Jokes About Joker, Ragnarok & Beating Superman

Suicide Squad director David Ayer continued to have fun about deleted Joker scenes, joking about a fight with Superman and a Ragnarok battle.

Earlier this week, director David Ayer joked about a fight between Superman and Joker being cut from the theatrical cut of Suicide Squad after an inquisitive fan asked about the Clown Prince of Crime’s deleted scenes. Now, Ayer has continued to have some fun with the subject by joking about how Joker defeated Superman in the showdown and that a Joker Ragnarok battle is currently under lock and key with the rest of the deleted material.

The first Suicide Squad followed a team of supervillains who were recruited by the government for a dangerous black ops mission in exchange for reduced sentences. The ensemble cast included Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, and Jared Leto as The Joker, all three of whom were expected to reprise their roles in the sequel before James Gunn became involved in the project. Although Suicide Squad earned mixed reviews, at best, the film became a box office hit for DC with a worldwide gross of $750 million.

Suicide Squad 2 is one of many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC Films, including The Batman, The Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Birds of Prey, Black Adam, Cyborg, Nightwing, Supergirl, New Gods, a Deathstroke film, and a Joker origin movie set outside of the DCEU.
