New ‘Suicide Squad’ Story Details Revealed

We’re getting closer and closer to the release of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad and with San Diego Comic-Con right around the corner, Warner Bros. is ramping up the marketing campaign for the next entry in the DC Extended Universe. Earlier today, Entertainment Weekly unveiled four new covers featuring the members of the Task Force X along with Jared Leto’s Joker and Cara Delevingne’s Enchantress, but they’ve also got a bunch of new story details.

Per EW, Suicide Squad takes place in Midway City in a post-Batman v Superman world, meaning that Superman is no longer here to save the day if there’s a threat. There’s apparently a “powerful mystical enemy” in town, which forces the government and Amanda Waller to recruit a bunch of criminals such as Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and Killer Croc to deal with the problem. There’s no word on the identity of that enemy, but it’s safe to say that this threat has something to do with the Enchantress.

We already know that Rick Flag and Katana are working with Waller, since they’re assigned with babysitting the rest of the Task Force X. The rules are simple: they have to obey Flag’s orders, otherwise they’ll die from an explosive device which were inserted into their necks. It’s mentioned that those devices were created by Wayne Enterprises, but I’m guessing that Bruce himself had nothing to do with any of that, since we know that the events of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice changed him.

As for The Joker, the magazine reveals that the whole mission is in jeopardy because of his “laser-like plan to reunite with his true love, Harley, mission be damned.” Sounds good to me. What do you guys think? Let us know in the comment section below.
