James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is on the horizon and so far, none of the original cast members from the 2016 Suicide Squad film have announced their return. In fact, it was recently revealed that Will Smith will not be reprising the role of Batman villain Deadshot.
It seems that one cast member is returning and that’s Viola Davis, who played team leader Amanda Waller in 2016’s Suicide Squad. According to We Got This Covered, Viola Davis will reprise her fan-favorite role but beyond that, no new details have been released regarding the line-up or story for the highly-anticipated addition to the DC Extended Universe.
The next addition to the DCEU, Shazam!, hits theaters this April, which will be followed by the Joaquin Phoenix-starring villain origin story Joker in October. After that, fans will finally see the return of Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie as the role of Harley Quinn in the Gotham City-centric team-up film Birds of Prey. There’s still no word yet on when other members of the former squad will make their big screen return.
