‘Supergirl’ & ‘Batwoman’ Production Shut Down Amid Coronavirus

Warner Bros. Television Group has shut down production on multiple projects, including The CW’s Supergirl and Batwoman, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In order to minimize the spread of coronavirus, several studios have decided to suspend production on multiple projects as a precautionary measure. Today, Warner Bros. Television Group confirmed they are suspending or postponing on some of its 70+  films and television shows, including Batwoman and Supergirl.

The company made the following statement:

“With the rapidly changing events related to COVID-19, and out of an abundance of caution, Warner Bros. Television Group is halting production on some of our 70+ series and pilots currently filming or about to begin. The health and safety of our employees, casts and crews remains our top priority. During this time, we will continue to follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control as well as local officials and public health professionals in each city where our productions are based.”

In addition to Supergirl and Batwoman, the shows affected by the shutdown include CBS’ Young Sheldon, All Rise, God Friended Me, TNT’s Claws, OWN’s Queen Sugar, Epix’s Pennyworth and HBO Max’s The Flight Attendant.

The announcement comes on the same day it was reported that The Flash cast and crew were informed that production on the series is suspended as of March 13. Filming on The Flash, Supergirl, and Batwoman takes place in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Warner Bros. Television Group is just the latest company to halt production on many of its projects amid the coronavirus. Today, Disney also announced it was suspending or postponing production on several live-action feature film projects, including the remake of The Little Mermaid.
